It could take a few days to cover 2.6 million square feet if you wanted to really explore the largest shopping centre in Europe: The Westfield London. With the new £600m extension, it has now overtaken the Westgate shopping city in Zagreb, Croatia, and Aviapark in Moscow. New portions of this extension will be opening over time and way ahead of schedule. A spectacular new John Lewis four-level department store encompassing 230,000 square feet is the prominent showcase of the new expansion. Also opening a substantial outlet in the new area is The White Company, featuring stylish crafted apparel and bed linens. UGG will be featured in the expansion, bringing their quality footwear to a large venue. H&M will also have a space to show their quality fashion wear and accessories. And Cath Kidston will have a store with their line of products for women and children. In the summer, a unique public events space surrounded by leisure stores and dining will open to the public. Roughly 8,000 new jobs will be created bringing the total number of employees at the centre to 20,000. New infrastructure, new social housing, and new jobs arrive with this new development, and the leader of Hammersmith and Fulham Council, Stephen Cowan, couldn’t be happier for his borough.
